Updates & Receipts (Dec. ‘25)
Important updates & documents, w/receipts for several donations
The year is almost out, and the promotional/fund-raising period for our most recent release has ended, so I want to send an update to you all. This will combine a few different things: receipts for multiple donations the press has made; a link to the .pdf of Ellen Boyette’s book and a video of her poetry reading from November; and a substantial update from stevie redwood (author of Intifada, from DMP in 2024) with valuable information about fund-raising for Palestine.
Receipts for Donations
First, thanks to all of you who helped support the release of Ellen Boyette’s Local Virgin of Impression. Copies are still available for anyone who is interested, and 25% will continue to be set aside for donation. Through website sales, the press managed to raise $197 for Youth Outright, and Ellen herself raised a further $119 through in-person sales of her contributor copies. This brings our total contribution to Youth Outright t0 $316. Here are receipts for the press’s donation:
Also, I’ve been tardy in sharing a few donations from earlier in the year. This money came from the press’s 50% off sale last spring, as well as some extra sales of Giulia Bencivenga’s and Isaac Pickell’s books in late 2024. The following receipts show donations to the Dayton Community Bail Fund ($75) and Gaza Mutual Aid Solidarity ($56):
Regarding the press’s finances, things continue to be sustainable. In fact, the press has a considerable surplus at present of $676 (!!). As this is more than we need (and I just paid off the yearly Squarespace subscription), I am putting $200 of that surplus toward a further donation (find receipts for this below, in the section about stevie). The remainder of that money will go toward toner for the printer, future Squarespace fees, and the cost of materials for future books. And if we continue to stay this far above baseline, I’ll donate a further sum later down the line.
A Video & Free PDF
On November 16th, we hosted a reading with Ellen Boyette online, and we were very glad to have such a warm and sizable turnout. For those of you who were unable to attend, you can view the reading here.
Additionally, I have posted a PDF version of Ellen’s Local Virgin of Impression at the Internet Archive (alongside all of our other titles). You can read it there or download for offline reading too.
Updates from stevie
As I’ve mentioned before, stevie redwood has been tireless in continuing to raise funds for Palestine through sales of their DMP title, Intifada. This fund-raising involves ordering books from me (at 75% off the list price), circulating them at local book stores and book fairs, and then donating 100% of the proceeds. As of this month, they have raised $4000 in this way. Of that sum, $3750 was raised for a single Palestinian family with ties to San Francisco/Muwekma Ohlone land that is surviving genocide in, and displacement from, Palestine. I am so thankful to stevie for their efforts, and it has been the press’s longest and most fruitful collaboration.
Additionally, stevie would like to encourage people to read Witness to the Hellfire of Genocide: A Testimony from Gaza, a new book written by Wasim Said, a young writer, physics student, and comrade who writes from Gaza during the ongoing genocide. Wasim began writing the book in January of 2025, after the first alleged ceasefire during this escalation, and he says, "I didn't write this to make you cry. Not for you to tell me: 'Poor you.' I write this so I can hang these words around your neck." Get a copy through 1804 Books. And if you want to directly support Wasim and the community members whose stories he shares in his book as they continue trying to survive genocide in Gaza, please consider contributing here.
Taking stevie’s lead, I am putting $200 of the press’s money toward this fund-raiser:
That is all for now, everyone! Thank you so much for reading, and thank you for your support for Dead Mall Press.
