INTERROGATION DAYS
[Revised Edition]
by RM Haines
“No one remembers anything that happens. And then it’s happening again.”
Interrogation Days offers a response to American power in the first quarter of the 21st century. Tracing a disastrous continuity from 9/11 through the Obama and Trump years, and into the genocide in Gaza, these poems offer a montage of fact and image in which ironies fracture one’s grief and rage, the heart and psyche go into eclipse, and one’s very seeing becomes a part of the violence. In this world of nightmarish psycho-politics, where power itself wields a poetics of terror and spectacle, the poems of Interrogation Days refuse to cede the ground of imagination. But in the process, they are subjected to the force of their own questioning.
